Yellow Hawk Cellar Mailbox:

The following are frequently asked questions, we thought we would share -

Why do I need an appointment to taste wines at Yellow Hawk Cellar?

Tim & Barbara reply: There are several reasons why we taste only by appointment -

1) Our zoning prohibits a formal tasting room that has posted public hours,

2) Yellow Hawk Cellar is located in our home and frankly, sometimes we have other

    things to do!

3) We try to cluster tasting appointments together so we are not opening 7 wines

for only two tasters - as much as we like drinking up the leftovers, we're running

a business, and we can't drink all the inventory!

So, how do I get an appointment?

Tastings are scheduled on Saturdays, except for pre-arranged group visits - so, contact us by phone or e-mail us before your visit to Walla Walla so we can try to cluster tasting appointments on the requested date.

Will I always get an appointment?

As much as we'd like to say "yes", the answer is regrettably "no" - we will do our best to accommodate you, but we simply don't have the ability to meet every request.

What if I'm in town and want to taste on a Saturday - do I need to call ahead, or can I just drop by?

Please call that day and we'll try to add you to the tasting schedule; if you reach our answering machine leave your name and telephone number, and we'll call you back if we're tasting - and please, don't drop by on Yellow Hawk Street and call from your cell phone to ask for an appointment...that's really awkward for us as we may be in the middle of an appointment with someone else or waiting for a prescheduled appointment to arrive. We allow 45 - 60 minutes for each tasting appointment, so if you're in a rush to get somewhere, we're not for you!

What if I don't want to taste, but I want to purchase wine?

Call and arrange a time and day to meet up with Tim, Kayla, or Barbara to pick up wine. We can accommodate almost any request for wine purchasing. Even when we're not tasting, we're ready to sell wine!

Holiday Barrel Tasting, Dec. 5th-7th

Holiday Barrel Tasting is an annual event held on the first full weekend of December in the Walla Walla Valley. Winemakers and their cellar staff will be on hand as over 50 wineries open their barrel rooms for the Valley’s 11th annual Holiday Barrel Tasting. This event gives the public an opportunity to meet the winemakers and gain an insight to the creative process behind how they make their wines. Visitors will taste samples of future releases straight from the barrel and be the first to enjoy the wines of a new vintage.
